It was a beautiful day to paint in this lovely park. Teachers from different grades brought their students for a picnic. Rambunctious boys ran in and out of the gazebo. Seniors strolled with their dogs, a pole walking class exercised with their instructor, and seven Plein Air Artists from the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air Society enjoyed many different views. Days like this don’t get any better.

The Kiss, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

The Leamington Marina was our original destination on Monday, June 6th, 2011. The Marina is a very pretty location, but sometimes pretty locations are not suitable for a painting. After about 1/2 hour searching for suitable subject matter, we decided to move on to Point Pelee, which is a few miles further down the road. It turned out to be a very good decision. We had the opposite dilemma at the point. There were so many great compositions that is was difficult to decide which one to paint.

I decided on the canoe’s. This turned out to be a great composition, but the canoe’s had a mind of their own. The staff have their orders and there is to be no fraternizing between canoes. One of them noticed that the green one had cut loose of its bindings, and was making out with the red one. So, she set about to lash it up to the other dock. “WAIT!” I exclaimed. She stopped dead and through my pleas she tied it up with the red canoe. The rest of the day they did the bump and grind to the slow ebb and flow of the marsh.

Now these lovely boats are for rent, but who knew someone would actually want to break up this lovely couple? Don’t ask me how, but within the blink of an eye I looked up and the red one was GONE! I swear I didn’t even see anyone near it, it just vanished! Fortunately, the staff were wonderful, and they put a new red one in the water for me. That fickle green guy didn’t even notice the difference! There were others who tried to break up the duo, but I kept a vigilant watch on the pair. I plead their case every time someone tried to break them up. While a few people looked at me a bit strange, I managed to keep them together the remainder of the day. I think we may see a few new brown canoe’s next summer. *wink!*

My best two female friends and I ventured out to Amherstburg this morning to paint during the Garden Tour. We were not disappointed as the gardens were in full bloom. I’ve taken to doing smaller watercolours in my Moleskine. I have fallen head over heals in love with this book. I bought two larger one’s when I was in California, but I’ve yet to take the plastic off them. We have an exciting summer planned for the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air Society in this our third summer.

Just an incredible day in Amherstburg. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The 8th Hole, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

The 8th Hole at Roseland Golf Course. It was a beautiful sunny day on Monday, May 9th, 2010. Finally we got some warm weather, although it was still cool in the shade. The golf course was teeming with golfers eager to get out on the course. I really enjoyed painting this sketch. It is my first double page sketch in my first Moleskine. I am so loving this book. It goes with me everywhere.

Still Life, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

Just a quick update on my crazy life.

We are out Plein Air Painting again and boy does it feel great! Monday was our second outing. It was windy, and cool but we stayed out for two hours then retreated to Margaret’s studio. Once there I set up a still life, and this was my view. Margaret painted the bouquet on my right, and Mary painted it from across the table. It was a great day.

Exhibition – Plein Air & Other Works, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

I can’t believe there are only 7 days left till we hang our show at the local arts council. I’m busily trying to cross things off of my list of things to do. I’m very excited for one thing. I’ve complied a book and I will be debuting it the night of the show. It is a self published work, and I will speak more about it after the launch. I’ve even applied for an isbn number! Horaay! I’m officially an authour/publisher!

Virtual paint out preliminary sketch "Taking the Sheep Out to Pasture, Romania"

I’ve attempted to add work to the virtual paint out project since December, to no avail. Last night I did a preliminary sketch of the painting that I wish to submit. I’m going to go ahead and submit this anyway because I don’t think I will get the painting done this month.

I’ve been very busy, and it looks like my schedule will not slow down anytime soon. This sketch does not compare with the work that is being submitted. The project is the brain child of Bill Guffey.
