My best two female friends and I ventured out to Amherstburg this morning to paint during the Garden Tour. We were not disappointed as the gardens were in full bloom. I’ve taken to doing smaller watercolours in my Moleskine. I have fallen head over heals in love with this book. I bought two larger one’s when I was in California, but I’ve yet to take the plastic off them. We have an exciting summer planned for the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air Society in this our third summer.

Just an incredible day in Amherstburg. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The 8th Hole at Roseland Golf Course. It was a beautiful sunny day on Monday, May 9th, 2010. Finally we got some warm weather, although it was still cool in the shade. The golf course was teeming with golfers eager to get out on the course. I really enjoyed painting this sketch. It is my first double page sketch in my first Moleskine. I am so loving this book. It goes with me everywhere.

Exhibition – Plein Air & Other Works, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

I can’t believe there are only 7 days left till we hang our show at the local arts council. I’m busily trying to cross things off of my list of things to do. I’m very excited for one thing. I’ve complied a book and I will be debuting it the night of the show. It is a self published work, and I will speak more about it after the launch. I’ve even applied for an isbn number! Horaay! I’m officially an authour/publisher!

Virtual paint out preliminary sketch "Taking the Sheep Out to Pasture, Romania"

I’ve attempted to add work to the virtual paint out project since December, to no avail. Last night I did a preliminary sketch of the painting that I wish to submit. I’m going to go ahead and submit this anyway because I don’t think I will get the painting done this month.

I’ve been very busy, and it looks like my schedule will not slow down anytime soon. This sketch does not compare with the work that is being submitted. The project is the brain child of Bill Guffey.

Kildare & Len’s from Windsor Regional Hospital, Met Campus Cafeteria, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

Went with Sheldon on Tuesday for his check up at Windsor Western Hospital. It looked like we were in for a long wait. This time we went to the cafeteria for tea, and pastry. YUM! I brought my new sketch kit with me. This house on the corner of Kildare and Len’s has always been a favorite of mine. I just might go back and sketch some more houses from the cafeteria. Especially since it’s only a block from home. I’ve had just a wonderful January 2011, and this is the first sketch of February 2011, in my Christmas present to me, my first Watercolour Moleskine! I love it! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds in store.

Keep your pencils sharp, your watercolours wet, and close at hand!

Real pitcher / Imaginary Room, originally uploaded by photographerpainterprintmaker.

I’m not content to watch television, it bores me. So, I was watching it the other night, something I rarely do when I spied a small creamer in the hutch beside the TV. I pulled it out and got my sketch pad out of my purse. It started as just a wee sketch of the pitcher and its shadow, and developed into an imaginary room.

Afterward, I sketched this quick imaginary forest, which I painted at a later date when I took my nephew to a doctor appointment. I’m never without my sketch book and paint anymore thanks to an idea I got here on Flicker. I will post a link in my blog to the group.

BUSY Busy busy Summer!

02 Thursday Sep 2010

I can’t believe it’s September!  I must ask forgiveness of everyone who’s stopped by in the last two months.  So I will post just a sample of what I’ve been up to this summer.  Last summer a friend of mine and I started the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air Society.  We made a pledge to ourselves that we would get out and paint every week.  We’ve succeeded!  I took to Facebook with our group and started to invite people, and there are now 9 of us who get together every week!

OH!!  I also designed a logo, watermark for all my work.  I was looking at the wordpress logo, and suddenly I realized that subconsciously I chose my blog name with all words starting with P for a reason.  DUH… the simplicity of the WordPress logo inspired me.  What would PPP  look like in a circle.  I like it, I hope you do too.  I’m thinking of getting a sign for my van window.

Plein Air Paintings 2009

25 Tuesday May 2010

I’ve been so busy posting my photo’s that I’ve neglected my paintings. So, I’ve decided to remedy that by posting them on a Tuesday. Here’s some painted last year. If you are interested in purchasing something let me know. As precious as they are to me I will sell them, after all I do need art supplies!

So, I bet you are wondering what is a Plein Air Painting? En plein air is a French expression which means “in the open air”, and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. There is no greater joy for me then to combine painting and the great outdoors.

Willistead Garden

I would consider this more of a sketch than an actual watercolour. It was done in a small Dick Blick sketch book that I don’t even think they make anymore. It was a gift from my dear friend Margaret Dawson. The two of us are dedicated to meeting every Friday to paint. Stay tuned for more work.
